In September we hosted a Seminar for our clients at the Tythe Barn near Bicester. The Seminar, which occurs every 18 months was, as always, an excellent chance for us to catch up with our clients away from the office. This year was especially exciting, as it was a chance for us to celebrate Wise Investment’s 25 Year Anniversary with you, our clients.
In case you weren’t able to join us at The Seminar this time, or if you want to recap on the presentations we now have a video below of all the talks from the night.
We hope that you found the evening useful and look forward to seeing you at our future client events!
After a celebratory champagne reception, the talks began with an introduction, from the group CEO Ben Peters and Wise Investment’s CEO Alex Rae, who welcomed everyone to the event and gave a brief update on the Wise Group’s progression over the last 18 months.
The first of our five speakers, Robert Blinkhorn – our new Investment Manager – then took to the stage to give a talk on the Cycle of Portfolio Management. The talk illustrated how Financial Planning, Investment Options, Investment Research and Investment Management affect each other and the way that we manage your investments.
Hugh Yarrow, representing Evenlode, then gave an insightful talk about the Four Key Themes from the Business World. Explaining Evenlode’s strategies for dealing with a difficult environment for savers and describing the good opportunities that can be found from the carefully chosen shares which they continue to invest in.
We were then treated to a History of Wise Funds by Tony Yarrow, CEO of Wise Funds and founder of Wise Investment, who took us on a journey through his career as a fund manager, from 1988 to the present day.
Tony was followed by our Financial Planning Manager, Angus Aston, who offered a guide to Making the Most of your Retirement Fund. Angus’s graphs gave an excellent demonstration as to how different funds responded over a 15 year period and what effect this had on the investments over this time.
Our guest speaker, Jane Bedford of Knights Solicitors, closed the evenings presentations with a session on Making sure your Will and Power of Attorney are up-to date.
